Presentations, workshops and panels are held in the Auditorium Maximum and in other lecture rooms inside the ETH Zurich main building. The exhibition of the MEDIDAPRIX finalist projects is located centrally in the ETH main building as well.
For the Get-Together event on Tuesday night we are going to meet in the library of Zurich University's law faculty, an impressive building by star architect Santiago Calatrava which opened in 2004.
The reception by the city and the canton of Zurich on Wednesday night takes place in the auditory of the Kunsthaus (Zurich Art Museum).
The highlight of the conference, the MEDIDAPRIX award ceremony, is accompanied by an entertaining cultural program and followed by a banquet at the Lake Side Hotel situated close to the lake.
DIRECTIONS
Arrival at Zurich Airport (Unique Airport)
Follow the signs «Bahn/Railway». Buy a ticket at the counter or from the ticket machine. Press the key «Zürich City» on the machine to print a ticket to Zurich main station which for CHF 5.80 is also valid on all trams and buses (note the time limit). If you plan to travel more within the next 24 hours, we recommend that you get a day ticket (CHF 7.60).
From platform 3 and 4 there are trains to Zurich main station every 10 minutes. The journey only takes about 10 minutes. Taxis are very expensive in Zürich. A ride from the airport to the city costs you about CHF 45.- (EUR 29.-).
From Zurich Main Station to the GMW06
At Zurich main station, follow the signs for tram no. 6 to the stop «Bahnhofstrasse». If you do not have a valid ticket yet, you can buy one from the blue VBZ ticket machine. If you plan to travel further than just to ETH Zentrum, we recommend you a day ticket (CHF 7.60). A day ticket is valid on all trams, buses and even boats in the city (zone 10) for 24 hours. For a simple ride to the stop ETH/Universitätsspital a short distance ticket (Kurzstrecke, yellow key at the bottom left) is sufficient. This ticket is valid for 30 minutes.
From Zurich Main Station, Stop «Bahnhofstrasse» (public transport map)
In 6 minutes tram no. 6 (direction "Zoo") takes you from the main station (Bahnhofstrasse) to the stop "ETH/Universitätsspital" (third stop). You see the ETH main building to your right. The journey by historical Polybahn is more spectacular: Leave the main station in the extended direction of the trains coming in. Crossing the tram rails and the river Limmat you reach the stop "Central". Diagonally opposite (next to Starbucks) you find the entrance to the Polybahn. A short distance ticket (Kurzstrecke), a day card or a Zurich card is valid on the small red rack railway which runs every 3 minutes. At the top, turn right and enjoy a beautiful view over Zurich from the Polyterrasse. The ETH main building is right behind you. |
